This past week we celebrated Thanksgiving in the United States. This is a time that we get together with friends and family to eat too much and celebrate. This should be a time to be thankful for all that the Lord has given us over the past year. This year my family and I were sick and did not go anywhere or do anything big for Thanksgiving. We were supposed to join my family in Arkansas at my sister’s house for our annual feast. It was disappointing, of course, that we weren’t able to make it and this could be used as a reason to be angry or upset that we missed out on the festivities. We weren’t though, we still have so much to be thankful for not only what is going on in our lives right now, but the fact that God has provided so much for us our entire lives.
Thanksgiving is an excellent time to reflect on past achievements and identify growth opportunities. There are always changes on the horizon and at this time we know some of those changes that are coming. We are extremely grateful for the opportunities that have been given thus far. Being able to identify in real-time all of the blessings that God has bestowed upon us and be able to be thankful for those blessings as they are happening is amazing. Knowing that we have a God who loves us and wants the best for us, even when we are so undeserving is an amazing thing that many people never get to experience.
